Nikon F80/N80

Designation is N80 in the USA and F80 for the rest of the world. The F/N80 is a consumer grade camera with most of the features found on a professional grade camera.

While made from lighter materials and less weather sealing than higher priced Nikons, the F/N80 is still a fairly rugged camera. If not abused it'll last a life time.

The F/N80 has a film rate of 2.5 fps, brackets by 1/2 stops, has a fast shutter speed of 1/4000th second and a maximum flash sync of 1/125th second. It's viewfinder covers 92% of the frame, same as the F90x but lower than the F100's 96%. It takes two CR123A or DL123A lithium batteries. Camera weight is 18.2 ounces. It has built-in flash, accepts a manual cable release and has on-demand grid lines in the viewfinder.

It has most of the features a pro would find desirable, and indeed many pros use a F80/N80 as a second camera. It has 10-segment matrix, spot and centerwighted (75/25) metering. It has exposure compensation and two and three shot autobracketing. It has both manual ISO and auto DX sensing. There is TTL flash control, depth of field and custom settings. A very good camera for the price.

For those of you looking for a second camera to compliment your F100, F5, or F6, the F/N80's controls are more like those models than other lower end Nikon bodies.

I bought my N80 in August 2003.
